Barbara Peduzzi, Chatham, NY – it’s about the same size as Tylertown, but we don’t have a McDonald’s.

I got to Camp Katrina sort of sideways, by responding to an appeal for someone to help a volunteer drive collected supplies down to the Gulf.  Since I was a truck driver in another life I said ‘I can do that’, but since I could spend time there, I ended up driving myself to Tylertown – “but go to the Humane Society, not the Best Friends”.  I am so glad I did.  The 9 days I was at Camp Katrina were one of the most phenomenal experiences of my life, working with volunteers who had never seen each other before in their lives to create an animal shelter facility out of the chaos two hurricanes had left.   So many memorable people and moments – and animals!

Personal- Paid job: Assistant Producer of The Mac-Haydn Theatre, Inc.; “New York’s foremost professional musical theatre’ – www.machaydntheatre.org.

Unpaid job: Volunteer EMT with Chatham Rescue Squad; president and chairman of Board of Directors.

Other disasters: South Florida after Hurricane Andrew to help distribute 4 truckloads of donated supplies from our area.

NYC, World Trade Center site after 9/11 as part of our county EMS Task Force.

Quote:

"Yes, Chuck, it was me who said “Send more volunteers – something in their early 60’s, single and straight would do just fine.”  And who put the sign on the cage of the kitten I brought back “Barbara’s Pussy”.  Remember Rick, with the tire stick-‘it’s all in the wrist’.  Elizabeth-‘Delegate!’-and sometimes it’s just gonna be a ‘clusterf*&%.   Yes, Phil, I am the Energizer Bunny whenever there’s some thing to get done.  And I would call all of you to help me!
