The Hurricane Katrina Wall of Shame

Here are some pictures of the notables of Hurricane Katrina.

I have listed, in order those who should be held responsible

and WHY.

Kathleen Blanco, Governor

It is hard for anyone to imagine a more inept public administrator than Kathleen Blanco.  She is living proof that "(S)He who hesitates is lost".  I just don't understand how the people of Louisiana ever elected her except that she ran against a well educated "man of color" for Governor.  By the way the Republican who ran against her was supported by none other than Roy Nagin!  Hmmmmm see a problem between the two?  I don't think that anyone could not help but think that there was/is a problem. The good news is that she did not run for reelection.  Oh by the way...Nice trick on the evacuation to NOT reverse the southbound lanes to go north only.  And in the final act of kindness, collect tolls on the Causeway on the way out of New Orleans.  Brilliant, simply brilliant

Roy Nagin, Mayor of New Orleans

If these two people had put their differences aside.....C'mon Roy buses, buses and more buses.  It was a total cop-out to say that you didn't have "qualified" drivers for the dozens of buses that I saw neatly parked as if they were getting ready for the school year.  They were, weren't they???  I have a drivers license, do you??? It was total BS that you didn't prepare until too late.  You became "hurricane complacent".  In retrospect, you did have some shining moments, but mostly to appear that you knew what was happening.

Michael Chertoff
Secretary of Homeland Security

While Rome burned (sic).  What can you say???  Homeland security means, well, homeland security.  What the Hell were you doing???  Oh wait, where were you??? Must have been another conference?  I guess if it didn't involve any middle-eastern types it was not a security problem.  New Orleans....Let's see, Oil Refineries, Oil Platforms, natural gas supplies, liquefied petroleum, VERY large port, mouth of the Mississippi.  Maybe even something of strategic importance? Gotta smoke some serious weed to not figure that one out.  Why was there not a strategic national plan in place that would have still allowed the Governor to have the final word, but a menu of what is usually needed in any given scenario?

Michael Brown  -  FEMA Director, now Deposed

Which Armani suit do I wear???  What was his job BEFORE FEMA??? Brown was the Judges and Stewards Commissioner for the International Arabian Horse Association, (IAHA), from 1989-2001. After numerous lawsuits were filed against the organization over disciplinary actions he was forced to resign. What an awesome administrator!  Where was he during all of this???  AND who really cares where he is now for that matter!  What he didn't do was let his superiors in on the little secret called Katrina.  But then, they probably could not have understood WHAT the forecast really meant.  Besides that, it was a poor area (more on that later).  So how many "observers" did FEMA have on the ground???  I believe that the number "2" sticks in my mind and they were in the thick of it....In Baton Rouge!  Did you know that there were hundreds of people in the convention center??? CNN did, even FOX did.  At least the animal rescue groups were ready and staged just outside NO before Katrina!

Getta Horse Brownie. (Oh, wait, don't it would probably be abused or abandoned)

George W. Bush, President of the United States

This picture says it all.  It is almost as if he didn't know the answer?  The question is Why did you hire Homeland Security Chief Chertoff and FEMA Director Brown??  How did they get through all the hearings and no one figured it out.  OOP's I forgot your party was the majority when that took place.  The real problem with "42" is that he knew that there was a problem, did nothing about it, them blamed it on a comedy of errors.  Oh, but did I mention...he was on vacation at the time, again....Crawford, Tx to New Orleans about 550 miles by car.  Hell, I drove 1100 miles on 3 major trips from Milwaukee to New Orleans in seventeen (17) hours.  He had the power and the ability when Ms Blanco (appropriate last name phonetically) was totally overwhelmed with what to do with Federal aid pre-facto that he should have said, "Ms Blanco, I will have my brother (the hurricane whore) Jeb Bush call you and explain what your needs would be as he has gone through this before and could be of tremendous help to you".  My favorite quote in all of this is.

"If Hurricane Katrina was Terry Shivo, he probably would have paid more attention to it."

But he did not.  Jeb Bush probably did not want to let anyone in on the secret to gleaning Federal funds at will!         His phone probably wasn't working at the time.

The honorable mention in the whole scheme should go to the people of New Orleans and Louisiana.  They elected these idiots, they allowed the continued course of corrupt politics to prevail. (Why is the Huey Long bridge still named that???).  They can continue to blame the Corps of Engineers, but they have done nothing but steal the money given to them for the maintenance and upkeep of the levee system.  They boast of the 6 billion dollars in tourist money that comes to New Orleans every year.  Where is the money going??? We all know that not a penny went to animal control or spay and neutering programs.  Need I discuss dog and cock fighting?  Need I mention the total disregard for the populace before as well as after the hurricane?  They did divert "levee money" to build the Superdome.  At  LEAST it finally paid some dividends although it did not have any food or water in it because the Mayor said that it wasn't necessary because they would not be there but a day or two.

Shame on all of them.  If you have others to be mentioned, drop me a line and they will be added.

The fight to save animals goes on in the New Orleans area.  Please contribute as you can.
