Jane

Everyone will
remember Jane as the itty-bitty pitty with the big personality. Jane was
energetic, fun loving, and totally enamored of Linus. It was impossible to
feel bad about the world if Jane was by your side. She may have been small
in size, but she enjoyed life around her in a very big way. Because she was
such a wonderful dog, a Texas rescue had chosen to bring her back to their
shelter, where she would be well cared for until her family could be
located, or until a new family could bring her home. Jane was almost out of
Tylertown and on her way to Texas, but she became frightened on the
transport vehicle and couldn’t go. So, Jane waited until the next rescue
came along to help her. Sadly, that “rescue” was Sandi Coy and her
destination was not a warm and caring shelter, but a small dirt area outside
in the cold at the end of a chain.
What happened
to Jane after she was taken from Tylertown for Kentucky?
Jane was re-rescued
from Kentucky, but was returned to Tylertown with a significantly different
bark and an underlying infection that was not detected until her death. Jane
was spayed following her return to Tylertown, but was found dead in her
doghouse a few days after her surgery. Upon examination of Jane’s lifeless
body, the vet determined that she died from a cause not related to the spay
surgery. An examination was requested of Jane’s trachea to determine why her
bark had changed so significantly between her transport to Kentucky with Coy
and her return to Tylertown was also requested. An unfortunate circumstance
did not allow for this request to be granted, so the cause of Jane’s change
in bark remains unknown.
Where is Jane’s family?
Jane was never given the chance for her owners to
find her after Hurricane Katrina. If you or some family you know believes
that Jane may have been their lost Katrina dog, please contact Johnna Harris
